Senior Project Accountant
Salary / Hourly Rate:
$90k - $105k plus bonus
Position Overview: The Senior Project Accountant will play a pivotal role in managing the financial aspects of projects, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in all accounting processes. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with strong analytical skills and the ability to work collaboratively across various departments.
Responsibilities of the Senior Project Accountant:
Oversee and track job cost accounting procedures, encompassing journal entries, WIP reporting, and schedules for projects.
Prepare and maintain accurate project cost reports, budgets, and forecasts.
Monitor and analyze project expenditures against budget and forecasts.
Collaborate with project managers to review and approve project-related expenses and invoices.
Ensure compliance with financial regulations, company policies, and contractual agreements.
Conduct regular financial audits and reviews to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Provide detailed financial analysis and reporting to senior management.
Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Develop and implement financial controls and procedures to optimize project accounting processes.
Support the finance team with ad-hoc projects and tasks as required.
Required Experience / Skills for the Senior Project Accountant:
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in project accounting, preferably within the construction, engineering, or architecture industry.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and budgeting.
Proficiency in ERP accounting software and strong Excel skills.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Preferred Experience / Skills for the Senior Project Accountant:
Experience with construction-specific accounting software (e.g., Timberline, Sage 300).
Knowledge of construction project management and cost control principles.
CPA or CMA certification is a plus.
Familiarity with local and federal construction regulations and compliance requirements.
Previous experience working in a large construction company.
Education Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CPA, CMA) preferred.
