Our client, a leading commercial real estate firm, is seeking a Property Accountant to join their dynamic team in Tampa, FL.

Position Overview

The Property Accountant will oversee the financial operations of a diverse real estate portfolio, ensuring accurate reporting, compliance, and timely month‑end close processes. This role requires a hands‑on leader with a deep understanding of accrual accounting and commercial property financials.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and perform month‑end close activities including accruals, reconciliations, and variance analysis.

Review journal entries and financial data submitted by the property accounting team.

Prepare and analyze property cash flow statements.

Oversee monthly property book closings and ensure accuracy.

Conduct intercompany reconciliations and process reimbursements.

Review and approve daily property invoice coding.

Monitor and validate tenant charges, receipts, and accruals.

Collaborate on acquisition processes and ensure compliance with internal controls.

Perform general ledger account analysis regularly.

Prepare and review monthly financial statements for executive leadership.

Partner with property managers on budgeting and recovery reconciliations.

Supervise and mentor property accounting staff.

Support quarterly and annual SEC filings (Forms 10‑K and 10‑Q).

Candidate Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field (required).

3‑5 years of general accounting experience, with a strong focus on accrual accounting.

Prior experience in commercial real estate property accounting (preferred).

Strong analytical and organizational skills.

Proficiency in accounting systems and Microsoft Excel.

Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
