Job Title:
1st Class Structural Welder
Location:
Houma, LA
Position Overview:
A1st Class Structural Welderspecializing in FCAW 3G/4G Structural Welding is responsible for welding together structural metal components following blueprints, work orders, or oral instructions.
Key Responsibilities
Obtains the appropriate tools needed for a particular job and subsequently sets up their equipment.
Binds together structural metal components that have been pre‑assembled and tacked into place.
Performs good, cosmetic sound welds.
Examines his/her work and may chip off excess weld, slag, and splatter with the appropriate tools (e.g., grinder, chipping hammer).
Leaves little or no rework when the job is complete (e.g., cold rolls, pin holes, wraps, burn through).
Troubleshoots his/her equipment.
May gouge to remove a member, make a seam sound, remove weld reinforcement, etc.
Experience A minimum of 6 months of FCAW 3G/4G Structural welding experience is required.
Skills and Abilities
Must successfully pass a hands‑on welding test that includes:
3G position: Welded with downhill progression.
4G position: Welded entirely in the overhead position.
