Job Description The Application Engineer, Thermal assists sales representatives and customers by providing technical support to help Vertiv thermal management products and services. This role serves as a conduit between the field and the other applicable internal departments such as offering management, engineering, and order management. This support includes providing technical information on company products and the application of these products, assistance with custom product features and pricing, and ancillary product selection and pricing. Additional activities include participation or presentation in customer visits, leading customer witness test events in lab environments, giving internal presentations or training to Vertiv colleagues on thermal products, and assisting in the product development process.
Responsibilities
Provides applications sales support.
Applies Quote Configurator tool to provide comprehensive quote support.
Performs equipment performance runs on Vertiv thermal management equipment.
Assists in developing clear, concise, and technically sound tailored solutions for customer review and acceptance based on customer requirements and/or Request for Proposals (RFPs), ensuring proper scope and required technical specifications are met.
Assists in the review of custom equipment orders and provides technical instruction throughout the order workflow.
Executes technical sales operations tasks such as change order and engineer to order (ETO) processing.
Presenting to customers or Vertiv colleagues on technical topics.
Providing product application training to the Vertiv sales organization in local offices or at the Vertiv Academy.
May assist in providing product support to Offering Managers.
May participate in new product development projects.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
3+ years of relevant work experience.
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or industrial systems engineering preferred (or equivalent of education and experience).
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to work and multi-task in a fast‑paced environment.
Proficient in MS Office.
Proficient and fluent in English including technical terminology.
Understanding of commercial infrastructure design objectives, performance factors, and physical requirements.
Excellent problem‑solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Commercial or relevant industry experience.
Experience with technical scope review and formal proposal development.
Ability to read and interpret schematics and one‑line diagrams.
Presentation and public speaking experience.
