Under direction of the Project Manager(s), the Structural Drafter is responsible for supporting our engineering team in developing high-quality construction drawings and documentation. The Structural Drafter will work closely with engineers and project managers to translate design concepts, sketches, and calculations into accurate technical drawings and plans.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare detailed structural drawings, plans, sections, and elevations using AutoCAD, Revit, or other drafting software.
Interpret and apply engineering sketches, specifications, and calculations into precise construction documents.
Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and other team members to ensure drawings meet project requirements and standards.
Review and revise drawings based on feedback from engineers, architects, and clients.
Maintain drawing accuracy, consistency, and compliance with codes, standards, and company drafting practices.
Assist with updating drawing libraries, templates, and standards.
Support project submittals by preparing drawing sets and ensuring timely delivery.
QUALIFICATIONS
One to three years of drafting experience in structural or architectural design required.
Proficiency in AutoCAD and REVIT required.
Familiarity with construction methods, materials, and structural systems.
Ability to coordinate and/or contribute to more than one project at a time.
Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate, high-quality work.
Effective time management skills and capability to meet project deadlines.
Excellent communication and organizational skills with a team-focused mindset.
Preferred Skills
Experience drafting in steel, concrete, wood, and masonry structures.
Knowledge of building codes and industry standards.
Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to shifting priorities.
Education & Licensure
Associate degree or certificate in Drafting, Design Technology, Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering or a related field is required.
Bachelor’s degree in Design Technology, Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited university is preferred.

Physical Requirements May require the ability to sit for long periods of time, stand, walk, and manipulate (carry, lift, move) light to medium weights up to 25 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate technical equipment, read technical information, and analyze complex data, as well as good hearing and speaking abilities to exchange information on the phone or in person. May require field visits to document conditions of existing buildings and construction sites.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Duties and responsibilities are generally performed in an office setting with occasional travel to conduct business including but not limited to visits to project work sites, off-site meetings, and/or work-related errands. Visits to project work sites may involve climbing ladders, walking on roofs, and following job site safety policies. Typically, the workweek is Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8:00 am and 5:00 pm. Overtime and weekend hours may be necessary at times.
