Overview As the

NetSuite Functional Lead , you will be the primary point of contact for ensuring our NetSuite and related financial systems effectively support the day‑to‑day operations of Finance and Accounting teams. You will lead the functional roadmap, partner across departments to optimize processes, and ensure the platform evolves to meet business needs while maintaining accuracy, compliance, and scalability. With NetSuite as the system of record, you’ll work across departments to align system capabilities with operational needs, optimize workflows, ensure accurate and timely financial processes, and enable faster close cycles with minimal manual intervention.

This role requires a strong understanding of finance and accounting operations, including processes such as procure‑to‑pay, order‑to‑cash, financial close, and reporting as well as NetSuite and its ecosystem. You’ll be responsible for supporting users, driving system adoption, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives in collaboration with the Technical Lead and key stakeholders across the business, and administration.

Responsibilities

Act as the Functional Lead/Owner of NetSuite and financial systems: ensuring configuration, workflows, approvals, and reporting align with best practices, support key finance operations (AP, AR, GL, Fixed Assets, Project Accounting), and meet business requirements.

Serve as the primary liaison for Finance, Accounting, Tax, Procurement, and Business teams (Operational Technology, Reporting, Data, Integrations) on system‑related needs, issues, and improvement opportunities.

Partner with business users to gather requirements, test solutions, and document processes for system enhancements and new features.

Lead training, onboarding, documentation, and change management initiatives: to drive NetSuite adoption, increase efficiency, and standardize processes across Finance and Accounting teams.

Support month‑end and quarter‑end close processes, ensuring systems function correctly and operational issues are resolved quickly.

Ensure compliance with SOX and internal control frameworks: by embedding controls in NetSuite processes, maintaining process documentation, and supporting audits.

Work closely with the Technical Lead to prioritize enhancements, manage testing/UAT, and ensure timely resolution of issues.

Champion process improvements by identifying opportunities to automate manual tasks, streamline workflows, and improve data accuracy and visibility.

Education & Experience Required

8+ years hands‑on functional experience with NetSuite (configuration, workflows, reporting, permissions).

Deep knowledge of finance and accounting processes (AP, AR, GL, close, procurement, fixed assets, project accounting, consolidation, and financial reporting).

Familiarity with systems such as NetSuite Planning & Budgeting (NSPB), Oracle FCCS, Avalara, FloQast, and Rillion.

Experience gathering business requirements and delivering functional solutions in NetSuite.

Strong problem‑solving, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.

Experience leading user training and driving system adoption.

Experience Preferred

Experience in a multi‑entity, global, or fast‑scaling environment.

Exposure to SOX‑compliant processes and controls.Strong knowledge of NetSuite capabilities (saved searches, SuiteAnalytics, reports, workflows, approval routing).

Experience with ERP implementations, upgrades, or integrations.

Location The preferred location for this role is one of our office locations: Durham, NC or Washington DC. Our team operates on a hybrid schedule, with an in‑office schedule of three days per week.

Compensation The salary range for the position is $90,000-$135,000 plus bonus and benefits. Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location.
