Must Haves
BS Degree in Chemical Engineering preferred or 5+ years of chemical batch processing / PLC experience
Minimum 3 years of experience in a chemical manufacturing or batch processing environment
Hands‑on experience with mixers, dryers, pumps, mills, and blending systems
Strong understanding of PLC‑controlled batch operations and process optimization
Leadership mindset with the ability to train, support, and guide operators
Position Overview We are seeking a skilled
Process Engineer
to lead chemical compounding and batch processing operations at our Vonore, TN facility. This is a full‑time, on‑site position combining engineering problem‑solving with production leadership in a dynamic, 24/5 operation. You’ll work closely with the current department head during a planned transition, preparing to take full ownership of a department vital to our plant’s success. The role offers an excellent opportunity to grow into a key technical and operational leadership position.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee day‑to‑day batch processing operations, including raw material compounding, blending, and drying.
Supervise and support a team of 11–12 hourly employees across multiple shifts.
Monitor and control key process parameters such as pH, moisture, particle size, and density.
Make process adjustments and troubleshoot equipment to maintain consistent product quality.
Lead the creation and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Train operators on safety, quality, and process improvement protocols.
Partner with maintenance to ensure preventive maintenance and minimize downtime.
Record process data, production logs, and material usage accurately in AS400.
Support product development trials and continuous improvement initiatives.
Uphold plant safety, quality, and compliance standards.
Qualifications
BS in Chemical Engineering (preferred) or equivalent technical experience in PLC batch systems.
3+ years in chemical or batch manufacturing, with hands‑on familiarity in process control and troubleshooting.
Experience with powder/blend systems and process equipment such as dryers, mills, and mixers.
Strong technical, analytical, and communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and ERP systems (AS400 experience a plus).
Comfortable working in a hands‑on, plant‑floor environment.
