Base pay range $22.00/hr - $24.00/hr

Job Summary The MFIP Employment Counselor provides comprehensive, ongoing case management to at least 60 families eligible for the Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP) through Hennepin County. The role is focused on helping participants achieve family stability and economic self‑sufficiency using a person‑centered, strength‑based approach.
Key Responsibilities
Manage a caseload of 60–70 MFIP‑eligible families
Build long‑term, trusting relationships with participants
Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify strengths and needs
Assist in developing goal plans for stability and self‑sufficiency
Use motivational interviewing and coaching techniques
Coordinate employment placements and training programs
Maintain accurate case notes and documentation in an online database
Monitor participant progress through weekly contact and data tracking
Support and help organize on‑site workshops and events
Qualifications
Ability to work independently and as a team member
Ability to adhere to HIPAA, ADA and data privacy requirements
Demonstrated proficiency with MS Word and Excel
Ability to access and navigate online databases; Workforce One, MAXIS, and MEC2 experience a plus
Must have valid driver’s license and insurance
Education / Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Human Services‑related field (related experience may substitute for degree)
Minimum two years’ experience working with low‑income families of diverse backgrounds and cultures
