Circle K
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled, proactive, and pragmatic Senior Solution Architect to lead the design and integration of merchandising technology solutions, focusing on the design and implementation of vendor-supplied software adapted to our business processes and technology landscape.
This role is responsible for designing how systems interact and integrate, ensuring technology solutions directly support business needs while remaining scalable, cost‑effective, and maintainable. It also includes aligning technical solutions with architectural standards while prioritizing business outcomes.
The role is critical in bridging business needs and technology capabilities, ensuring scalable, cost‑effective, and maintainable solutions are delivered. You’ll work closely with stakeholders across business and technology teams to ensure that implemented solutions truly enable our merchandising strategy—while also remaining sustainable, interoperable, and aligned with enterprise priorities.
Key Responsibilities
Interpret Business Needs: Translate business and technical requirements into capability maps, reference architecture, and system design specifications. Collaborate with business owners, enterprise architects, product managers, and technical teams to ensure future readiness.
Technology Leadership: Lead technical vendor assessment, RFPs, and PoC activities. Review vendor architecture, data models, integration capabilities, and support models. Drive technical discussions with vendors and internal teams. Assess how solutions fit into the existing ecosystem, dependencies, and design future state and technical roadmap.
Apply Technology: Lead the design and evolution of solution architecture, including static, dynamic, and deployment views. Ensure data flows, technical processes, and integrations are clearly designed, understood, and documented. Validate alignment with technology standards, including security, compliance, enterprise architecture guidelines, and best practices. Guide technology teams during implementation and support troubleshooting of complex problems, providing architecture support. Foster strong collaboration and alignment between business and technical teams to ensure shared understanding and joint ownership of solutions.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, Systems Analysis, or a related field—or equivalent experience.
7+ years of experience in software development or IT infrastructure.
3+ years in a solution architecture or technical leadership role.
Strong understanding of architecture and integration patterns, system scalability, and high‑volume transactional environments.
Proven ability to work with diverse stakeholders in a multinational environment.
Experience working in the fuel and convenience industry desired but not required.
Hands‑on experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines is a plus.
Proven track record of delivering large‑scale and complex solutions.
Experience developing architecture diagrams, technology approaches, and roadmaps.
Experience delivering presentations to senior‑level executives and technical audiences.
Self‑starter with the ability to bring clarity and structure to ambiguous situations.
Key Qualities and Skills:
