Health and Safety Manager – Lexington, NC – CPM Holdings, Inc.
Role Overview We are seeking a proactive and influential Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Manager to lead and advance our safety culture in our Lexington, NC manufacturing site. This high-visibility role is responsible for ensuring legal compliance, upholding CPM corporate safety and environmental standards, and acting as the critical link between corporate leadership and frontline employees.
Key Responsibilities
Shop-Floor Leadership & Safety Culture – Maintain a strong, visible presence in our Lexington facility, observe work practices, mentor staff, lead toolbox talks, and reinforce safety values daily.
Incident & Near-Miss Management – Lead investigations for incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions using root cause analysis and trend data; partner with HR on disciplinary processes.
Compliance & Risk Management – Ensure full compliance with Federal, State, and local legislation; conduct risk assessments, machinery and fire safety evaluations, and maintain ISO management systems.
Environmental Compliance – Contribute to core environmental responsibilities including waste handling, spill response, pollution prevention, and reporting requirements.
Contractor Safety Management – Oversee contractor processes from prequalification to on‑site supervision and audit compliance.
Corporate Liaison & Standards Alignment – Translate corporate HSE priorities into actionable site-level practices and align with global standards.
Training, Audit & Emergency Preparedness – Deliver training programs, coordinate health surveillance, and lead emergency drills.
Reporting & Executive Communication – Develop clear, data-driven reports on HSE performance and present them to site leadership and executive teams.
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum 5 years’ experience in manufacturing or industrial HSE management.
HAZMAT, OSHA 500, ASP/GSP, IOSH, NEBOSH certifications a strong advantage.
Experience overseeing remote or field service operations a bonus.
Technical & Legal Expertise
Deep understanding of OSHA, ANSI, EPA environmental legislation.
Strong background in risk assessment, ISO 45001/14001 systems, incident investigation, and compliance management.
Familiarity with Lean/6Sigma tools is a plus.
Leadership & Communication
Engage effectively with employees at all levels—from shop floor to boardroom.
Balance operational realities with safety expectations.
Persuasive communicator capable of leading change without authority.
Analytical & Personal Attributes
Methodical and structured in investigations, documentation, and corrective action planning.
Approachable, decisive, and calm under pressure.
