The Network Administrator is responsible for the design, installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of the district’s network and server infrastructure. This includes LAN/WAN systems, wireless networks, firewalls, switches, servers, and end-user connectivity. The position ensures the availability, integrity, and security of the district’s technology systems, while providing technical support to staff and maintaining compliance with district, state, and federal requirements.
Responsibilities
Provide technical support and training for hardware, software, and network across district locations, responding to helpdesk requests and maintaining accurate documentation
Collaborate with IT technicians to coordinate repairs, replacements, and upgrades
Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory of devices, licenses, and network equipment
Administer and maintain district servers and network infrastructure, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, LAN, WAN, and wireless systems
Manage switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless controllers to ensure availability, security, and performance
Configure and deploy updates and patches
Monitor system and network performance, security, and bandwidth utilization; recommend and implement improvements
Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls in accordance with district policies
Implement and monitor data backup, archiving, and disaster recovery processes
Plan, test, and implement network and system upgrades and new technology initiatives
Document configurations, network maps, and standard operating procedures
Ensure compliance with privacy and data protection standards (FERPA, CIPA, etc.)
Engage with vendors and service providers for procurement, maintenance, and support
Research emerging IT trends and technologies to recommend and implement solutions that improve performance and efficiency
Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the efficient operation of district technology systems
Required Qualifications
Minimum 3–5 years of professional experience in network/system administration
Knowledge of LAN/WAN/WLAN architecture, TCP/IP networking, VLANs, VPNs, DHCP, DNS, and firewall configuration
Experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, and VMware
Familiarity with Apple macOS/iOS, Chrome OS, and Windows OS environments
Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and organizational skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with staff, administrators, and vendors
Ability to work independently and collaboratively, including occasional after-hours maintenance as needed
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between district sites
Preferred Qualifications
Industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA Network+/Security+, ITIL, or Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE)
Experience with Google Workspace for Education, School Information Systems (SIS), and other K–12 educational platforms
Knowledge of backup and disaster recovery systems, and network monitoring solutions
Experience in public school systems
Reports to Director of Technology
