Requirements:
Completion of Radiology program and ARRT-R within 6 months of hire.
Relocation assistance is available for those who qualify.
Job Summary Takes x-rays of designated parts of the human body for diagnostic purposes and provides support for the imaging department. This position performs plain films, fluoro, portables, and OR exams and/or plain films and Bone Density (BD registry required).
Primary Responsibilities
Explains procedures to patient to ensure understanding and provides educational material.
Transports patients to and from clinical areas and verifies patient identity per policies and procedures; prepares patient for radiology exam by positioning accordingly.
Follows radiation safety procedures and guidelines to prevent unnecessary radiation exposure.
Prepares and administers contrast media and medications within scope of practice and applicable regulations.
Observes patient during procedure, reports abnormal activity, and monitors protocols, recommending updates as warranted.
Ensures prompt submission of high-quality images and documents to PACS with correct lead markers and patient data/history.
Maintains equipment function, reports problems, locks/tag-outs when appropriate.
Maintains a clean, orderly department including procedure rooms, storage, dressing areas, and other department spaces.
May perform limited CT procedures in emergent situations when CT Technologist is not on site.
Works in constant state of alertness and safe manner.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education
Completion of a Radiology Technology program.
Experience
No experience required.
Physical Requirements
Constant standing and walking.
Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more).
Frequent use of hearing and speech for communication.
Frequent lifting, carrying, and moving objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
Frequent lifting/moving of patients.
Frequent reaching, gripping, and keyboard use/data entry.
Occasional lifting/carrying of objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
Occasional bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
Rare kneeling and sitting.
Licensure and Certification
State of Work Location: Illinois – Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) – AHA; Radiologic Technologist - IEMA Temporary Accreditation; ARRT-R Radiography; ARRT-BD Bone Density.
State of Work Location: Missouri and Oklahoma – BLS HCP; ARRT-R Radiography; ARRT-BD Bone Density.
State of Work Location: Wisconsin – BLS HCP; Licensure – Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services; ARRT-R Radiography; ARRT-BD Bone Density.
