SCOPE:
The Urban League of Portland's mission is to help empower African Americans and others to achieve equality in education, employment, and economic security. The Accounting Specialist will assist with daily financial and administrative activities and provide overall operational support to the organization. The incumbent will help maintain the organization by ensuring that internal processes are efficient, current, and followed. The individual hired for this position will adhere to the Urban League of Portland’s policies and support the goals of the organization, including by maintaining the confidentiality of sensitive information.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities Contributes to the Urban League’s mission, commitments, goals, and to the team effort by performing the following duties with a high level of integrity and professionalism:
Accounting & Finance Support Payables
Help respond to AP inquiries from internal stakeholders and vendors, providing timely resolutions and support.
Provide payables support to the incumbent Accounting Specialist.
Receivables
Ensure accuracy while managing billing functions using MS Excel for invoice preparation and timely distribution.
Gather all documents to accompany billing submissions and manage data retention in SharePoint.
Verify the accuracy of revenues and expenses and reconcile records with internal staff and external stakeholders. Investigate questionable data and recommend actions to the Accounting Manager to resolve discrepancies.
Consult with benefactors during soft collection efforts to maintain relationships.
Function as a fiduciary while coordinating with the Accounting Manager and Operations staff to complete weekly bank deposits.
Improve ULPDX’s AR position by completing revenue recognition and invoice preparation within a five-day business close and support fiscal close.
Ensure compliance with company policies and financial regulations.
Periodic data validation and financial report distribution.
Maintain a helpful demeanor as a subject matter expert.
