Summary of Functions Maintains quality standards by approving incoming materials and recording quality results; analyzes information, reports research results, documents accordingly, promotes process improvement, manages safety, and oversees manufacturing methods and procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities
Approve incoming materials by confirming specifications; conduct visual and measurement tests; reject unacceptable materials.
Document inspection results by completing reports and logs; summarize re‑work and waste; input data into quality database.
Keep measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions and calling for repairs.
Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations.
Work with Engineering and other departments to evaluate products and report results.
Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
Accomplish quality and organization mission by completing related tasks as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements Education and Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Minimum 2–3 years inspection experience; experience with electrical harnesses and/or connectors preferred; working knowledge of video measuring systems desirable.
Familiar with AS9100 and/or ISO 9001.
Familiar with IPC/WHMA-A-620 and other aerospace workmanship and quality standards.
Required Skills and Physical Requirements
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Good understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and use of vision systems and/or coordinate measuring equipment.
Proficient with basic precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, dial/digital indicators, height gauges, thread gauges, pin gauges, etc.
Experience performing first article inspection in accordance with AS9102 or equivalent.
Comfortable working with binocular microscopes for extended periods.
Must pass Visual Acuity requirements (color, depth perception and field of vision).
Ability to read, comprehend and follow verbal and written instructions.
Must follow strong safety standards.
Must possess attention to detail.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team.
Ability to work independently, focus, organize work, and complete assignments on time.
Sitting and standing for long periods.
