Overview The Project Executive serves as the overall project leader from initial business development and design through construction, closeout, and ongoing client relationship management. This role is accountable for project performance, client satisfaction, and strategic alignment with McGough’s business objectives.

Responsibilities

Lead large, complex healthcare projects such as acute care hospitals or a program of ambulatory and outpatient facilities.

Ensure high‑quality, comprehensive services to clients while maintaining financial success.

Oversee the full project lifecycle: business development, preconstruction, construction execution, start‑up, commissioning, and facility transition services.

Engage and utilize McGough’s Centers of Excellence and support teams.

Lead proposal efforts, assemble project teams, and coordinate with Marketing to prepare compelling, client‑focused proposals.

Coach and mentor team members, champion Standard Work practices, foster a culture of accountability, and model collaborative behaviors.

Conduct pursuit and business development, support design and building community engagement, lead proposals and presentations, and promote other McGough services.

Assist in preconstruction, manage project set‑up, program input, constructability reviews, risk management, and design process oversight.

Oversee construction‑oversight tasks, including staffing, financial review, contract requirements, phasing, scheduling, Last Planner champion, safety protocols, and regular jobsite walks.

Manage McGough self‑performed work: quantity take‑offs, estimating, scope of bid materials, Critical Path Method schedules, and CMiC preparation.

Lead estimating and bidding: cost management, budget benchmarking, cost models, subcontractor review, and final contract approvals.

Manage scheduling: Last Planner, preconstruction scheduling, construction schedule review, and oversight.

Provide project oversight, including staffing, financial condition, safety protocols, and site inspections.

Coach/mentor project management staff and ensure effective collaboration with external clients and internal teams.

Execute post‑construction/close‑out activities: cost history upload, lessons learned, punch‑list completion, and documentation delivery.

Perform additional duties as assigned, contribute to national healthcare team, build relationships, represent company at events, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications Required

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture, Engineering or Construction Management

Minimum of 20 years of experience with large and complex healthcare projects, including ground‑up projects

Proven deep knowledge of healthcare operations and capital facilities requirements and codes

Preferred

Expertise in various delivery methods (CM at Risk, design‑build, etc.)

Experience with greenfield acute care hospitals or major campus expansions

Estimating and field experience

Scheduling experience

Skills

Deep knowledge of healthcare operations and capital facilities requirements and codes

Outstanding written and spoken communication skills; ability to present to C‑suite and board

Broad professional skill set to relate to owner/client, design consultant, contractor, and staff (field and office)

Understanding of building systems, coordination, and regulatory issues (structure, MEP, landscape, building code, ADA, etc.)

Success in building highly effective teams and maintaining client focus

Strong Microsoft Application skills, including Excel and other project management software

Cultural leadership: facilitation, problem solving, organization, time management, detail orientation, relationship building, prioritization, self‑starter, proactive style

Office and Travel Office: Various jobsites and/or corporate/regional office.

Travel: Flexibility for up to 12–24 months of out‑of‑town assignments.

Physical Requirements Position involves sitting for extended periods, traveling by plane or car, lifting up to 20 pounds, writing, manipulating keyboard, hearing and speaking clearly, and distinguishing colors on graphs and charts. Occasionally will visit construction jobsites exposing to dirt, dust, uneven surfaces, outdoor weather conditions and extreme temperatures.
