Job Summary We are seeking a skilled Plastics Engineer to design, develop, and improve plastic products and manufacturing methods. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of polymer science, plastic processing techniques, and product design principles. This role will involve collaborating with cross‑functional teams to ensure products meet quality standards, production efficiency, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Design and develop plastic components, molds, and assemblies for various applications.

Select appropriate polymer materials based on product specifications, durability, cost, and environmental impact.

Optimize manufacturing processes such as injection molding, blow molding, extrusion, and thermoforming.

Coordinate with design engineers, production teams, and suppliers to ensure manufacturability and quality standards.

Conduct material testing, failure analysis, and performance evaluations.

Develop cost‑effective manufacturing solutions and ensure efficient material utilization.

Implement quality assurance procedures and comply with industry safety regulations.

Support continuous improvement initiatives and troubleshoot production issues.

Research and integrate new plastic technologies and sustainable materials into product development.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Plastics Engineering, Polymer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.

Strong knowledge of thermoplastics, thermosets, elastomers, and composite materials.

Experience with CAD design software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and mold development.

Background in injection molding, extrusion, thermoforming, and other manufacturing processes.

Understanding of material testing standards (ASTM, ISO).

Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.

Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Preferred Skills

Experience in sustainability initiatives for plastics manufacturing.

Knowledge of additive manufacturing (3D printing) of polymers.

Familiarity with Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing methodologies.

Work Environment Office and manufacturing plant settings with opportunities to travel to suppliers and production facilities.
