The HR Generalist will serve as a key resource for staff and management, ensuring a positive and equitable workplace culture aligned with our nonprofit values and compliance with collective bargaining agreements. Key Responsibilities

Recruitment & Talent Acquisition (35%)

Manage full-cycle recruitment for union and non-union positions, including community outreach to attract diverse candidates who align with our mission. Collaborate with hiring managers to develop equitable, inclusive job descriptions and interview processes. Partner with internal stakeholders to improve onboarding and retention strategies tailored to a nonprofit workforce. Ensure all hiring processes align with CBA provisions and organizational policies. Employee Engagement & Culture (30%)

Develop and implement staff engagement initiatives, wellness programs, and recognition efforts that reflect nonprofit values and constraints. Conduct engagement surveys, analyze data, and work with leadership to implement improvements. Support a culture of collaboration, inclusion, and continuous feedback in both union and non-union teams. Coordinate organization-wide events, learning opportunities, and DEI-related initiatives. Review staff performance evaluations submitted by group supervisors, providing feedback and recommendations as needed, approves completed evaluations and monitors their overall completion. Employee Relations & Labor Relations (30%)

Serve as a key point of contact for employee concerns, offering confidential guidance on workplace matters. Interpret and apply the Collective Bargaining Agreement in day-to-day employee relations issues. Support grievance processes, investigations, and disciplinary actions in accordance with labor law and CBA requirements. Partner with union representatives and management to maintain a respectful and productive working relationship. Ensure consistent documentation and resolution of employee relations matters. HR Operations Support (5%)

Maintain employee records, HRIS updates, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and nonprofit-specific labor regulations. Assist with benefits administration, annual open enrollment, and HR reporting. Contribute to HR policy updates, staff handbook revisions, and compliance audits. Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, PHR, SHRM-CP, or similar certification preferred. Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, or related field preferred. 3–5 years of HR generalist experience, preferably in a nonprofit and/or unionized environment. Working knowledge of labor relations and collective bargaining agreements. Demonstrated success in full-cycle recruiting, employee engagement, and conflict resolution. Strong understanding of employment law and HR compliance (FMLA, ADA, FLSA, etc.). Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills. Proficient in HRIS platforms and Microsoft Office Suite. Seniority level
