Technical Specialist V Cybersecurity Level II
Location: Suffolk, VA
Information Systems Solutions (ISS) is seeking a mid‑level Systems Engineer to support the JS J7 Joint Training DevSecOps pipeline core infrastructure and data center. The selected candidate will assist the Deputy Directorate, Joint Training (DDJT) and work 100% onsite.
Primary Responsibilities
Install, configure, and maintain multiple VMware vSphere environments (ESXi hosts, vCenter Server, vSphere Client).
Manage datastores (VMFS, NFS, iSCSI, Fibre Channel); implement and manage VMware vSAN.
Install, configure, and administer Windows Server (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP) and Linux distributions.
Apply OS‑level patches and security updates; ensure servers adhere to security baselines and compliance requirements.
Diagnose and resolve server performance, OS failures, network connectivity, and application interaction within the VM.
Develop and maintain scripts (PowerShell/PowerCLI, Bash/Python) to automate routine server and VM management tasks.

Functional Area Certification A functional area certification (e.g., Windows, Linux, VMware, CCNA, Network+) is required prior to the start date.
Required Skills
Virtualization: VMware vSphere technologies (ESXi, vCenter, vMotion, HA, DRS, vSAN). Familiarity with Microsoft Hyper‑V is a plus.
Operating Systems: Administration of Windows Server and Linux systems.
Automation & Scripting: PowerShell, PowerCLI, Python, Bash.
Hardware: Enterprise‑level servers and data center infrastructure.
Networking: TCP/IP, DNS, VLANs, basic network troubleshooting.
Storage: vSAN, SAN, NAS, iSCSI, Fibre Channel, NFS.
Soft Skills: Strong analytical and problem‑solving, excellent communication, ability to work in a fast‑paced, cross‑functional team.
