Armed Protective Security Officers (PSO) - Washington, D.C. We are hiring Armed Protective Security Officers to work at federal sites in Washington, D.C.

Responsibilities

Protect the principal against possible threats.

Perform federal building access control, including employee and visitor identification checks.

Monitor security equipment, conduct roving patrols of federal property (interior and exterior).

Monitor surveillance cameras for disruptions or unlawful activity.

Provide detailed reports on daily activities and/or incidents.

Operate magnetometers, X‑ray machines, and other security equipment.

Use communication devices such as two‑way radios effectively and clearly.

Apply excellent listening and service skills in emergency response and evaluation procedures.

Perform CPR or first aid when needed.

Maintain credentials per contract requirements.

Carry out other duties assigned by the Supervisor or Project Manager.

Minimum Requirements

At least 21 years of age.

United States citizen or lawful permanent resident with verifiable honorable discharge from any US Armed Forces component.

Valid Social Security Card issued by the Social Security Administration.

Minimum of 2 years of armed security experience or 1 year of full‑time law enforcement experience in a full‑service police department.

Minimum of 2 years of service in any US Armed Forces unit with an honorable discharge.

Fluent reading, speaking, and writing in English.

Ability to qualify with a revolver or semi‑automatic weapon.

Strong knowledge of the security industry.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Customer‑service driven mindset.

Physical Demands

Perform tasks requiring frequent and prolonged walking, standing, sitting, and stooping for up to 12 hours per day.

Maintain contact with the general public, law enforcement, and dispatch center, speaking clearly and remaining calm in stressful situations.

Remain on post for up to four consecutive hours without a break.

Remain alert for up to 12 hours, reacting quickly to unexpected and dangerous situations.

Subdue violent or disturbed individuals or intervene in a crisis.

Occasional running, sprinting, lifting heavy weights, moving heavy objects, and climbing stairs.
