Educational Support Personnel - Greenleaf Academy/Special Education

Location: Greenleaf Academy, Haverhill, MA 01830
Salary: $23.84/hr (Associate Degree) or $27.09/hr (Bachelor’s Degree). Pay based on skills and experience.
Responsibilities
Under supervision of a certified teacher, prepare for classroom instructional events and other educational or non‑educational activities in accordance with student IEP.
Assist the teacher in implementing special strategies and interventions developed to reinforce material or skills based on an understanding of individual students’ needs, interests, and abilities.
Provide positive and appropriate role models for students, treating them with respect.
Assist in teaching process and work directly with children to provide class support in academics, social skills, self‑care (ADL’s), and vocational tasks.
Assist in generalization of skill development and community integration.
Assist with addressing student behavior and encouraging effort in the classroom.
Use online platforms such as Google Meets and Google Classroom; work in person and virtually.
Complete onboarding process, familiarizing with IEP, district policies and procedures.
Serve as a resource for communication with teachers regarding specific instruction for student goal attainment.
Assist in behavioral interventions and be eligible for Safety Care certification (full restraint training provided).
Assist in implementation of treatment plans, safety plans, behavior plans, etc. for various students.
Collect data as instructed.
Work as a member of a team with other staff members (BCBA, RBT, etc.).
Apply ABA strategies (training provided) and execute discrete trials, de‑escalation techniques, and positive behavioral interventions.
Assist with toileting certain students with disabilities (if required).
Lift and carry certain students with disabilities per IEP (if required).
Reinforce material introduced by the teacher; assist with self‑help and independence skills.
Assist with remedial and review exercises, practice and drill work as outlined by the teacher.
Aid independent study, enrichment or remedial work as provided by the teacher.
Help students master instructional tasks assigned by teachers; assist in test taking, use of instructional technology and reading to students.
Observe and note performance and behaviors.
Implement curriculum modifications or accommodations designed by professional staff.
Escort and supervise students throughout the school; proctor testing and provide make‑up work assistance.
Assist with toileting and diaper changing.
Provide supervision during breaks, lunches, community trips, school events, and cover for absent staff.
Supervise pupils passing in corridors, during fire drills and assemblies.
Assist students in situations other than their regular assignment as requested by the teacher.
Take temporary assignments on lunchroom, recess, playground duties as directed by the principal.
Setup and operate instructional and/or assistive technology equipment.
Participate in professional development activities relevant to district and ESP job requirements.
Perform other general duties as indicated by the principal, director of special education, superintendent or designees.
Qualifications
Passing score on the PARA Pro Test or equivalent state‑approved assessment program, or 48 college credits.
Associate Degree (or Bachelor’s if possible).
Willingness to accept direction and cooperate with all staff.
Preferred prior experience working with children in a school or similar setting.
Physical requirements: Ability to move in and out of classrooms, buildings, and stairs; lift and carry materials weighing up to 20 pounds; lift/carry materials or persons up to 75 pounds with assistance; ability to climb stairs, kneel and move on and off floor mats.
Good judgment, tact, diplomacy; respect for confidential matters; sensitivity to child issues; traits of resourcefulness, thoroughness, initiative, patience, courtesy, dependability, and enthusiasm.
Computer literate and ability to use assistive technology.
Comfortable using online platforms such as Google Meets and Google Classroom.
Bilingual preferred.
Other alternatives acceptable at superintendent’s discretion.
