Job Title: Communications and Marketing Associate
Department: FAES | Animal Sciences
College of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences – Marketing & Communications Specialist position, reporting to the Department Chair and collaborating with faculty, staff, and stakeholders to develop engaging narratives for diverse audiences.
Key Responsibilities
Content Creation and Strategy
Oversee all departmental digital and print marketing and communications, ensuring content is aligned with the department’s mission.
Collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to develop and showcase departmental accomplishments.
Write articles, press releases, and promotional materials to highlight key events, research, and achievements.
Develop strategies to repurpose existing content and engage alumni, students, and stakeholders.
Assist with departmental annual reporting and communicate impact.
Recruitment and Student Engagement Marketing
Develop and implement communication and marketing strategies for student recruitment.
Create promotional materials for prospective students, highlighting program strengths and research opportunities.
Work with faculty and staff to identify key recruitment opportunities and craft messaging to attract prospective students.
Web and Social Media Management
Lead the development of web content, storytelling, and strategic narrative creation.
Manage the department’s website, social media platforms, and newsletters to maintain a consistent digital presence.
Analyze web traffic and social media engagement using analytics tools to adjust and optimize communication strategies.
Required Education
Bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism, marketing, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Desired Education
Master’s degree in communication, journalism, marketing, or related field.
Required Experience
2 years’ experience in journalism, communications, marketing, or related fields; ability to lead communications initiatives and content creation, including website management.
Experience with social media platforms and digital marketing strategies.
Collaborative teamwork skills with superior verbal and written communications abilities.
Desired Experience
Expertise in writing and editing across multiple styles and media.
Experience with web content management systems (CMS).
Pay Range: $51,500.00 – $67,250.00 per year.
Location: Animal Science Building (0156). Position Type: Regular; Scheduled Hours: 40; Shift: First Shift.
Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check. A drug screen or physical may be required during the post‑offer process.
