Account Manager (Collections)
We’re currently seeking a full‑time Account Manager (Collections) to support our Corporate Office team in Altoona, PA. Under the general supervision of our Retail Lending & Credit Manager, the Account Manager will work independently to perform collection activities for delinquent loan accounts, supporting the bank’s resource recovery function.
Key Responsibilities
Contribute to the bank’s growth and customer satisfaction by helping delinquent borrowers promptly resolve problems related to their loan accounts.
Use problem‑solving abilities and human‑relations skills to analyze the delinquent borrower’s financial situation and work with them to coordinate appropriate repayment plans and options.
Establish and maintain records regarding delinquent loan accounts; document all recovery actions taken such as telephone conversations, alternative payment arrangements, etc.
Collaborate with our personal and commercial lenders to coordinate timely collection strategies.
Stay current with secondary‑market vendor requirements on the handling of non‑performing loans.

Requirements
High School diploma and at least three (3) years of experience in a related position or banking role.
Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business, or a related field (or an equivalent combination of education and experience) is preferred.
Other Requirements

Solution‑driven mentality and ability to independently make effective decisions.
Strong organizational skills and ability to multi‑task effectively.
Proficient computer knowledge and ability to learn bank‑specific software.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands Work is normally performed in an interior/office environment. The position requires the ability to remain in a stationary position for large portions of the day, with occasional movement around the workspace or to other areas of the department to accomplish tasks. Repeated motions involving the hands, wrists, and fingers are required, and there may be occasional bending, stooping, reaching or stretching to retrieve items. The employee may need to adjust or move items weighing up to 10 lbs.

Essential Duties
Works independently performing collection and workout duties to support the resource recovery function.
Reviews Business Analytics reports and updates the Collection Manager System daily.
Communicates with delinquent borrowers using various means of contact and utilizes effective human‑relations skills to present a positive bank image in negative situations.
Documents all collection actions taken such as telephone conversations, alternative financial arrangements made, letters mailed, etc.; establishes and maintains records relating to delinquent loan accounts.
Utilizes all methods of resource recovery under terms of the loan contacts; extends due dates or refers customers to proper lending personnel for refinancing of delinquent loans; initiates foreclosure on secured loans if delinquent situation requires such action.
Analyzes the borrower’s financial situation and counsels the borrower concerning possible options; recommends adjustment procedures to be followed or appropriate action to be taken.
Prepares a list of past‑due loans for use by management and maintains monthly status reports for MI companies and secondary market vendors.
Maintains and inspects all Bank REOs; works with local real‑estate agents to list and sell REOs.
Takes prudent measures to secure, monitor, and if necessary dispose of non‑real‑estate loan collateral securing retail and commercial loans.
Contributes to the soundness of the loan portfolio through prompt collection of delinquent accounts; prepares and reports charge‑off loans.
Contributes to the Bank’s growth and customer satisfaction by helping customers to resolve problems with their banking transactions.
Conducts semi‑annual appraisals on delinquent properties 90 days and over and on other delinquent properties as necessary.
Stays current with and follows secondary market vendor requirements on the handling of non‑performing loans, including contact with borrowers, handling of collateral and proper reporting of information.
Coordinates specific work tasks with other personnel within the department as well as with other departments to insure the smooth and efficient flow of information.
Complies with established operating policies and procedures to maintain adequate controls and support the Bank’s adherence to outside regulatory requirements including collections‑specific regulation such as the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
Communicates with management and team in order to integrate goals and activities.
Responds to inquiries relating to his/her particular area, or to requests from other bank personnel, customers, etc. within given time frames and within established policy.
Maintains appropriate records and provides assigned reports.
Abides by the current laws and organizational policies and procedures designed and implemented to promote an environment free of sexual harassment and other forms of illegal discriminatory behavior in the workplace.
Cooperates with, participates in, and supports adherence to all internal policies, procedures, and practices in support of risk management and overall safety and soundness and the Bank’s compliance with all regulatory requirements, e.g., CRA, Equal Credit Opportunity Act, etc.; ensures the department and all personnel adhere to the same.
Properly handles confidential information for all internal and external customers.
Adheres and upholds all of the Bank’s policies and procedures in regards to physical and information security.
Ancillary Duties
Performs tasks which are supportive in nature to the essential functions of the job, but which may be altered or re‑designed depending upon individual circumstances.
