Job Title : Clinical Care Manager

Job Description The Clinical Care Manager (also referred to as Clinical Care Coordinator) oversees D3/D4 students’ clinical progress, productivity, and time utilization. The role coordinates treatment of active patients and recalls in the Comprehensive Care Unit (CCU), tracks completion of essential experiences and competencies, and reports to the Director of Clinical Operations.
Responsibilities
Manage patients’ clinical care in CCU
Study and manage patient families for D3/D4 students, ensuring regular visits; each patient seen at least once a month while in active treatment.
Place patients on appropriate recall after care completion, following the St. Louis Dental Center Recall Plan.
Monitor students’ clinical productivity, manage open time slots due to no‑shows/cancellations.
Analyze the patient family spreadsheet daily, communicating lapses to student doctors and CCU Directors.
Support and manage students’ clinical progress
Track student attendance and accountability, reporting to CCU Directors and Vice Dean for Clinical Affairs.
Schedule, coordinate, and support monthly student progress meetings.
Analyze monthly progress reports, highlight concerns, and develop corrective action plans.
Review completion of essential experiences and advise CCU Director and Vice Dean when progress is unsatisfactory.
Monitor competency completion, recommend patient transfers if needed to provide equitable experiences.
Assist with D3 research projects as appropriate.
Other duties as assigned.
Report infractions related to students’ clinical progress or patient management to relevant CCU Directors and Assistant Dean, Clinical Affairs.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred.
Education or health‑field degree preferred.
Dental background desirable but not required.
Public Health background desirable.
Prior experience in administration, leadership, strategic planning, policy development, and collaboration.
Patient/client coordination experience desirable.
Experience with project management or developing and implementing new programs highly desirable.
2–3 years experience in directing a program and employees, planning, implementing, and evaluating programs.
Experience developing spreadsheets and managing data; ability to develop and manage spreadsheets critical.
Skills
Leadership, education administration, communication, and presentation skills.
Strong writing, facilitation, and problem‑solving skills.
Intermediate to advanced computer and technology skills (Word, Excel, Google Sheets, internet).
Strong organizational and planning skills (setting targets and timelines).
Networking and team collaboration skills.
Ability to stimulate and engage students and communicate with faculty and staff.
Ability to work in small and large groups.
Personal Characteristics
Positive attitude, open‑minded, independent thinker.
