Logistics & Work Environment This role involves extended desk work, computer use, and occasional daytime travel. It requires strong organizational skills, adaptability, and the ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment.
A Day In The Life The Grants Manager secures, documents, and tracks grants and proposals from various sources, contributing over $1 million annually. The manager identifies needs, researches and develops proposals, and manages grants, including financial and reporting requirements. The role also involves strategic planning to ensure sustainable funding for future services.
Responsibilities
Maintain absolute confidentiality regarding all donor records and communications.
Meet regularly with management and program staff to identify funding needs.
Conduct ongoing research of grant possibilities and maintain up‑to‑date data for grant writing.
Collaborate with community agencies to secure additional grants.
Monitor grant‑based philanthropic field trends for future opportunities.
Collect and draft client stories for use in grant proposals and publications.
Provide gift acknowledgment and stewardship letters, status reports, and evaluations to funders.
Oversee the Grant Project Coordinator to ensure accurate grant tracking and spend‑down.
Maintain grant files and contribute to annual data collection and analysis.
Participate in community events, fundraisers, and appropriate meetings.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related field.
Five years of grant writing experience.
Grant writing certification preferred.
Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
Basic computer knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Clear articulation of the mission of Harvest Hope Food Bank.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with colleagues, donors, and organizations.
Strong reporting and presentation skills.
Knowledge of basic evaluation methods and tools.
Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities, think strategically, and communicate mission.
Proficiency in research, reading budgets and IRS 990s, and interpreting complex regulations and guidelines.
Compensation The annual salary ranges from $55,000 to $65,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
