Overview
We are looking for a
Cultivation Manager
to oversee all cultivation operations, from propagation to harvest, within our 25,000+ sq ft flowering canopy at our commercial cannabis facility. This role demands extensive knowledge of crop management across different growing media, environmental control systems, cannabis morphology, fertigation, and irrigation strategies. As part of our dynamic team at Verona Collective, you'll play a crucial role in our seed-to-sale operations.
Responsibilities
Direct cultivation operations with a knowledge of the following:
LED lighting
Coco growing media
Boiler/Chiller and HVAC systems
Argus controls systems
Oversee cultivation, nursery, sanitation, and processing while communicating with other managers to ensure all departments are working cohesively to achieve deadlines and adhere to the production schedule and crop plan
Track all cultivation and post-harvest KPIs, analyzing environmental and substrate monitors to make data-driven decisions
Strong leadership of cultivation and harvest teams; developing technical and soft skills, motivating technicians, and instilling accountability
Collaborate with the Director of Cannabis Production to continue the development of the genetic library, implement new cultivars, and calibrate the cultivation production schedule to meet sales objectives
Use an array of software including Canix, to collect data, monitor KPIs, and set data-driven performance goals for cultivation/harvest managers and teams
Partner with department managers to forecast workflow and labor demand, maintaining an appropriate number of technicians to guarantee deadlines are met
Troubleshoot all plant health issues, mitigate pest/pathogen pressure through rigid IPM practices, maintain economic thresholds while upholding quality standards
Continuous research and development of best cultivation processes and operational efficiencies, improve existing SOPs, and generate new ones to maintain streamlined production
Constant refinement of best cultivation and post-harvest practices specific to individual cultivars
Maintain an extremely high standard of quality in cultivation/processing practices and post-harvest final products, emphasizing cleanliness and excessive attention to detail
Work alongside Nation Facilities to ensure infrastructure repairs and build-out projects are completed promptly and in line with the cultivation vision
Enforce all cultivation regulatory standards in compliance with the Oneida Nation Bureau of Cannabis Control
Ensure all areas of cultivation production are using low-impact practices to the best of our ability to reduce waste, innovate, and improve processes to reduce our carbon footprint
Requirements
2-5 years of experience directly managing all aspects of cannabis cultivation in a licensed commercial facility with over 10,000 sq ft of flowering canopy
5-10 years of cannabis cultivation growing a wide variety of cultivars, knowledge of how they grow and what techniques to apply specific to an individual cultivar need
A Bachelor's degree in plant science, business, or management, or 4+ years equivalent experience as a Cultivation Manager in a commercial cannabis facility is preferred
Well-versed in commercial cultivation infrastructure, environmental controls and equipment, fertigation, and irrigation systems
Proven success cultivating truly high-quality cannabis at scale while maintaining economically viable COGS and revenue generation
Adept in project management and workflow software, Excel spreadsheets, developing and tracking KPIs, inventory management, labor forecasting, and efficient task delegation
