The Personal Lines Account Manager is responsible for managing and servicing a book of personal lines insurance clients, providing exceptional client support, and ensuring retention and growth through proactive account management and cross‑selling. This role involves direct interaction with clients, carriers, and agency staff, requiring strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a client‑first mindset.

Key Responsibilities

Understands carrier appetites and underwriting guidelines.

Maintains positive relationships with carrier marketing representatives and underwriters.

Aligns placement strategies with agency goals and identifies remarketing opportunities when necessary.

Assists clients with policy changes in an automated, transactional environment.

Reviews client accounts during each interaction to identify opportunities for rounding and upselling.

Educates clients on policy coverages, endorsements, exclusions, and insurance needs.

Processes and verifies policies, endorsements, proofs, and other documents for accuracy.

Manages renewals independently or in collaboration with producers, including reviewing, remarketing, and preparing proposals.

Maintains accurate and up‑to‑date electronic and transactional files in accordance with agency procedures.

Responds promptly and professionally to client inquiries via phone and email.

Uses each client interaction as an opportunity to strengthen the relationship and provide value‑added service.

Assists with first notice of loss, claim follow‑up, and client communication throughout the claims process when appropriate.

Follows agency guidelines for invoicing, collections, and cancellation processes.

Identifies reasons for cancellation requests and works to retain business where possible.

Processes cancellations accurately and ensures proper documentation and follow‑up.

Qualifications

Previous experience in personal lines insurance preferred but not required.

Strong knowledge of personal insurance products and markets (or willingness to learn).

Excellent communication, organizational, and time‑management skills.

Proficient with standard office software.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Wisconsin Property & Casualty License required (or must be obtained within a set time after hire).

Pay & Benefits Base pay range: $45,000.00/yr – $65,000.00/yr.

Additional compensation: Annual Bonus.
