Position Summary
The Human Resources Generalist (HRG) is responsible for overseeing all Human Resources functions within a Generations Healthcare facility. The HRG ensures compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, exercises discretion and independent judgment in personnel management, employee relations, and policy administration, and collaborates closely with leadership to maintain a positive, compliant workplace culture aligned with the Mission Statement and Operating Philosophy of Generations Healthcare.
Essential Responsibilities
Serve as a confidential and impartial resource for employee concerns and recommend corrective actions.
Promote positive employee relations by advising and coaching supervisors and employees on policy interpretation and best practices.
Lead and/or assist with thorough, timely, and compliant investigations into employee complaints, including allegations of harassment, discrimination, workplace disagreements, and policy violations.
Facilitate the leave of absence process, ensuring timely notifications, documentation, and ongoing employee support.
Act as the facility’s primary contact for the workers’ compensation process, overseeing injury reporting, coordinating with injured employees, and facilitating return‐to‐work protocols.
Participate in leadership meetings and contribute to facility planning, culture-building initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.
Guide department heads in performance review and disciplinary action processes, providing ongoing feedback and documentation assistance.
Process personnel actions such as rate changes, role changes, status changes, and terminations.
Facilitate new employee orientations, creating files, submitting new‑hire documentation, and verifying I‑9s.
Maintain ongoing compliance by completing licensure verifications, I‑9 reverifications, annual background checks, and other required verifications.
Maintain employee files and ensure all employment documentation is accurately filed per company policy and federal/state law.
Act as liaison to the Support Center Human Resources department.
Participate in candidate interviews and assist department heads with hiring decisions.
Oversee onboarding processes for new employees.
Disseminate updated policies, answer employee questions, track acknowledgment receipts, and update files accordingly.
Support the administration of employee benefits (health insurance, 401(k), EAP, etc.) through ongoing communication and deadline compliance.
Collaborate with other departments to facilitate employee recognition and engagement programs.
Enforce HR policies and procedures in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (FMLA, CFRA, ADA, EEO, etc.) and the Generations Healthcare Employee Handbook.
Assist with compliance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement for eligible employees (as applicable).
Maintain knowledge of current regulatory requirements in the long‑term care industry that affect HR policies.
Partner with the Employee Services Coordinator to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Working knowledge of federal and state employment law, HR policies, procedures, and best practices, and workplace investigations.
Knowledge of healthcare-related HR practices (licensure, staffing requirements, etc.) preferred.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft O365 or similar productivity tools.
Ability to work independently, exercising discretion and judgment in significant matters.
Team‑orientated collaboration and support of team outcomes.
Handling highly confidential matters with integrity, compassion, discretion, and professionalism.
Provide proactive, timely, and accurate customer service.
Meet deadlines and adapt to changing priorities.

Education and Experience
Associate or bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or related field preferred; relevant experience may substitute for education.
Minimum of 2 years HR experience in a healthcare or skilled nursing environment preferred.
Union experience preferred.
Employee Relations experience required.
