DEFINITION The Marketing and Digital Engagement Specialist helps connect Cape Fear Community College (CFCC) with students, parents, employees, and the broader community through engaging marketing content and outreach.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED Reports to the Director of Media Relations and Communications.

Manages work-study students, interns, and student influencers as needed.

ESSENTIAL AND OTHER IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS STATEMENTS Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Essential Functions

Works with the Marketing Manager and Community Relations team to develop compelling content for CFCC’s marketing efforts, including social media, website updates, email marketing, digital advertising, and print materials.

Works with the Social Media Manager to create and post engaging content, ensuring platform consistency and engagement.

Works with the Graphic Design Manager to create compelling designs for digital and print publications.

Leverages AI-powered tools to enhance engagement strategies.

Works with the Community Relations team to develop digital campaigns designed to improve student retention by engaging current students with timely and relevant content.

Works with the Community Relations team to update web information as needed.

Ensures compliance with CFCC’s brand identity across all digital and print marketing materials.

Writes, edits, and proofreads content, including social media captions, website copy, press releases, newsletters, and promotional materials.

Assists in managing crisis communication efforts and urgent messaging.

Designs marketing materials such as digital display ads, brochures, programs, event invitations, certificates, and signage using Adobe Creative Suite, Canva or similar tools in collaboration with the Graphic Design Manager

Captures and edits photos and videos for marketing campaigns, social media, and promotional materials.

Updates and maintains content for CFCC's campus digital signage system.

Supports internal event marketing efforts, including commencement, in-service, and the annual holiday party.

Develops marketing strategies to promote student engagement initiatives, fundraising efforts, and community partnerships in coordination with the CFCC Foundation and other college departments.

Sets meeting and reserves space for the Community Relations team as needed.

Oversees freelancer and vendor coordination, including photographers, videographers, and promotional item providers as assigned.

Maintains accurate records of marketing expenses, invoices, and promotional approvals.

Coordinates and schedules communications, including campus-wide announcements and updates to the CFCC website and myCFCC portal.

Uses CRM systems, including Aviso and Element 451, to communicate with students.

Completes administrative tasks for the CR team as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Proficiency in social media content creation and management, including platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, and YouTube.

Proficiency in social media scheduling software such as Agorapulse.

Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills following AP style.

Experience using Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro) for graphic and multimedia content creation.

Experience using Canva or related cloud-based graphic design tools.

Experience using Vimeo and YouTube for video hosting, editing, and captioning.

Ability to analyze marketing performance metrics and translate data into actionable insights.

Understanding of best practices in digital advertising, email marketing (e.g., Constant Contact), and SEO/SEM.

Knowledge of event coordination and public relations strategies.

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

Experience using AI-powered marketing tools, chatbots, and automation platforms for engagement and communication.

Knowledge of ADA regulations and best practices for content creation.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Minimum Education/Training

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, or a related field.

Minimum Experience

At least two years of experience in digital marketing or communications.

Preferred Education/Training, Experience, Skills

Experience in higher education marketing.

Experience managing social media channels for a business, nonprofit, or institution of higher education.

Advanced proficiency in social media scheduling, analytics and reporting tools.

Video production and editing experience.

Knowledge of CRM and automation tools.

Experience with AI-driven marketing strategies, including automated content generation and predictive analytics.

Experience with WordPress or similar content management systems (CMS).
