Environmental Health & Safety Technician CooperVision is a leading manufacturer of soft contact lenses. This role supports the coordination and implementation of EHS and sustainability programs at CooperVision West Henrietta, ensuring compliance with local, state, federal regulations and company best practices.

Job Summary Supports the EHS Department to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and CVI best practices. Provides project management support to multiple shift EHS teams, manages safety inspections, audits, incident investigations, and sustainability initiatives.

Responsibilities

Document and maintain records of safety inspections, reviews, and audits performed by Safety Teams and Managers. Identify corrective action items and track to completion via electronic reporting methods.

Provide project management support to multiple shift EHS teams by tracking projects, recruiting team members, preparing meeting topics for presentation, and documenting meeting minutes.

Support incident and accident investigation, accurate recording of details, and implementation of corrective actions for work-related injuries and incidents. Coordinate the near miss and hazardous conditions reporting.

Collect monthly and quarterly data from waste and recycling streams, EHS key performance indicators (KPIs), and Duffy Rath System Monthly Performance. Import data into Workiva, EcoOnline, and Global KPI files.

Monitor chemical inventories for the site and maintain compliance with current inventory of Safety Data Sheets (SDSs). Manage electronic SDS management system (Chemwatch) and assist in training employees on its use.

Perform Job Hazard Analyses and Ergonomic Risk Factor/PPE Hazard Assessments for the site. Review and recommend improvements and PPE.

Provide EHS orientation/onboarding training of new hires.

Support the EHS Department in the development and updating of training materials for monthly safety training sessions and safety awareness activities. Maintain training records to ensure compliance.

Conduct routine inspections of equipment including AEDs, eyewash stations, and first aid rooms.

Support ongoing Sustainability, ESG, and wellness projects.

Support handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous wastes.

Maintain all EHS plans, training documents, policies, and SOPs in our electronic Quality Management System (Agile).

Facilitate and track the contractor safety program.

Work extended hours (including mandatory overtime) as needed to complete daily department goals or tasks.

Qualifications

Must possess the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.

Ability to read, analyze and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

Strong written communication skills; ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

Mathematical skills: ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning ability: define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Computer skills: proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint on Windows.

Physical demands: prolonged sitting, frequent reaching with hands and arms, occasional lifting up to 25 lbs, vision requirements for close, color, depth perception.

Work environment: semi-closed environment with moderate noise; occasional noisy and dusty environment in parts of warehouse/packaging floor.

Experience in a warehouse or industrial environment; indirect leadership experience or ability to influence others; EHS or Learning & Development experience preferred.

Education: High School Diploma required; Two-year degree preferred.
