A school custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and functional environment within educational facilities, performing various cleaning and maintenance tasks to support the school community. Minor Repairs: Conduct minor repairs and maintenance tasks, such as changing light bulbs, fixing leaky faucets, and unclogging drains. Safety Checks: Regularly inspect facilities for potential safety hazards and report any issues to maintenance or school administration. Event Setup: Assist in the setup and teardown of school events, including arranging furniture and equipment as needed. Inventory Management: Monitor and maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, requesting purchases when necessary. Qualifications: Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required. Courses in maintenance, basic repair, and safety can be beneficial. Experience: Prior experience in custodial or janitorial services is a plus, but many custodians start with minimal experience and receive on-the-job training.
