Key Responsibilities
Cloud Data Architecture & Engineering Design and implement cloud-native data platforms using AWS services (Redshift, Snowflake, Databricks, Delta Lake, Apache Iceberg). Define modern data architecture blueprints supporting SQL, NoSQL, streaming, and unstructured data models. Architect event streaming solutions (Kafka, Kinesis) for real-time ingestion and processing. Lead SQL Server migrations to PostgreSQL with minimal disruption and optimized performance. Database Management & Optimization
Manage and optimize SQL Server on AWS (RDS & EC2), including HA/DR, backup, and scaling automation. Implement advanced performance tuning, indexing, and workload management across relational platforms. Architect and automate data replication and masking strategies using Delphix for SQL Server and PostgreSQL. Automation & Infrastructure
Build automation frameworks for provisioning, patching, performance optimization, and compliance. Implement Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using Terraform, OpenTofu, or AWS CDK. Establish DataOps practices including CI/CD for data pipelines, automated schema management, and continuous testing. Security, Monitoring & Collaboration
Apply security best practices: encryption, masking, RBAC, and compliance. Utilize observability tools (CloudWatch, OTEL, New Relic) for monitoring and self-healing automation. Collaborate with engineering, InfoSec, and DevOps teams to deliver scalable, secure data solutions. Define and publish standards, patterns, and reusable templates for enterprise data platforms. Leadership & Mentorship
Provide technical guidance and mentorship across teams. Promote a culture of automation and best practices in managing diverse database environments (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, NoSQL). Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field; Master's preferred. 5+ years as a Database Architect or similar role, with 3+ years in cloud-native platforms. Deep expertise in Microsoft SQL Server (design, administration, performance tuning, HA/DR). Proven experience with AWS Redshift, Snowflake, Databricks, Delta Lake, Apache Iceberg. Strong knowledge of event streaming platforms (Kafka, Kinesis, MSK). Hands-on experience with NoSQL databases (DynamoDB, MongoDB, Cassandra). Experience with Delphix for replication, masking, and provisioning. Proficiency in Python, PowerShell, AWS CLI for automation. Hands-on with IaC tools (Terraform, OpenTofu, AWS CDK). Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, Jenkins, AWS CodePipeline). Strong understanding of cloud data security, governance, and compliance. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Significant experience with PostgreSQL, including query optimization and replication.
