In accordance with the Agreement between the Detroit Federation of Teachers (DFT) and the Board of Education of the School District of the City of Detroit, the following vacancy is announced.
Position Summary:
The Training and Support Coordinator position will develop resources to support teachers in best instructional practices in alignment with state standards and our vision for excellent instruction. These resources include professional development opportunities for teachers. This position will develop memos and draft communication as it pertains to district initiatives and curriculum and instruction projects. Supporting school-based staff with executing the vision for excellent instruction is a key component in this position.
Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree
A valid Michigan Teaching Certificate in grade band and content area
A minimum of 5 years teaching in content area to which you are applying for
Experience with principles of adult learning and how to apply them to professional development
Experience providing curriculum support to teachers in content area
Experience developing curriculum and pacing guides in content area
Strong working knowledge of the Common Core State Standards (CSSS)
Essential Functions:
Support the development of district curriculum, guidance documents, and pacing guidelines that are in alignment with state standards and our vision for excellent instruction.
Develop memos and draft communication as it pertains to district initiatives and curriculum and instruction projects.
Execute assigned project plans and events adhering to project plan timeline.
Ensure compliance with district policies and protocols as it relates to partnerships, programming, and professional development.
Monitor and review existing and potential programs to ensure they are aligned with the district mission and vision.
Support school-based staff with executing the vision for excellent instruction.
Develop and execute professional development.
Maintain thorough records and documentation of work on assigned projects and school support.
Communicate with community partners and stakeholders. This includes but is not limited to attending meetings and district and non-district sponsored events which may take place before, during, or after the workday.
Fulfill other duties as assigned.
