Description We are looking for a dedicated Accounting Manager to join our team in Salinas, California. This Contract-to-permanent position offers an opportunity to oversee key financial operations, including accounts payable and receivable, while collaborating with leadership on budgeting and financial analysis. - Manage and supervise all aspects of accounts payable, ensuring timely payment of monthly bills, contract analysis, and integration with the general ledger.
- Oversee accounts receivable processes, including government contracts, private payments, grants, and rental income, while ensuring accurate reconciliation and ledger integration.
- Lead and train AP and AR staff, handling hiring, performance evaluations, and ongoing development of accounting team members.
- Assist in preparing annual budgets and conducting monthly financial analyses, including the creation of detailed reports.
- Monitor and enforce accounting policies and procedures, recommending efficiency improvements where necessary.
- Maintain and update the fixed assets ledger to ensure accurate tracking and reporting.
- Ensure cross-training among accounting staff to maintain workflow continuity during leaves or absences.
- Provide backup support for accounting processes and complete additional tasks as assigned.
- Supervise and evaluate subordinate employees, making recommendations to support their growth and development. Requirements - Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting is required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger closings, preferably in a nonprofit setting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, with the ability to analyze data and generate reports.
- Experience with Sage accounting software and payroll systems.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a respectful and collaborative environment.
- Excellent supervisory and organizational skills to manage multiple priorities effectively.
