Job Summary

Assist store customers in selecting and purchasing items. Operate and maintain a cash register, collect monies, count change, prepare receipts, and balance the cash register drawer. Prepare and deliver bank deposits. Respond to customer inquiries and assist with donations. Maintain cleanliness and organization of merchandise, displays, and the store environment. Ensure the security of the cash register area and merchandise. Clean display racks, shelves, floors, windows, and mirrors. Answer the store telephone courteously.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of effective customer service techniques.
• Understanding of basic mathematics principles and practices.
• Effective communication skills in English, both written and verbal.

Education and Experience

High School diploma or G.E.D. preferred. Retail experience is preferred or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Licenses and Certifications

None required.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

• Ability to meet attendance requirements.
• Ability to operate a cash register and answer the telephone.
• Ability to perform routine mathematical computations accurately and timely.
• Physical effort includes sitting, walking, standing, lifting (up to 50 lbs.), bending, reaching, twisting, pushing, and pulling, approximately 75-100% of work time.
