Opportunity In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
Design mechanical systems supporting new nuclear power plant designs or modifications to operating nuclear power plants.
Work collaboratively with various design engineering execution teams across the US.
Perform all aspects of mechanical system design engineering and analysis for assigned systems of responsibility.
Function in a responsible engineer capacity which includes:
Actively seek to understand client interests and drivers through normal client contact and through interaction and communication with project leadership.
Provide technical direction and guidance to others.
Assign tasks to and coordinate with other internal/external team members on complex projects.
Perform complex research and develop recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection.
Understand, manage, and adhere to project budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
Initiate contact with other disciplines as needed to ensure proper workflow sequence.
The Mechanical Engineering Department is a global team that delivers high quality, on‑time design and services projects in the areas of Power, Gas, Fuels & Chemicals, Water and Waste Water, Data Centers, and Mining, including everything mechanically related to Process and Power (hydro, LNG, ammonia, fertilizer, nuclear, solar, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications
Nuclear Power Plant System design
Condensate and Feedwater systems
Cooling water, including closed cycle systems
High Pressure / Intermediate Pressure / Low / Auxiliary Steam systems
Instrument and/or Service Air Systems
Demineralized (DM) water supply and makeup systems
Service and Potable water supply system
P&ID development
Performing calculations such as pipe sizing, pipe thickness, pump sizing, control valve sizing, heat exchanger sizing, and atmospheric tank sizing
Preparation of technical specifications for mechanical equipment, piping, and valves
Working knowledge of codes, standards, and regulations related to nuclear power plants
Strong written technical communication skills
Intermediate knowledge of engineering design principles and applicable codes, standards, and regulations related to mechanical engineering design of nuclear power plants
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited program or equivalent experience in engineering work. Minimum of 5 years related work experience. Ability to complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements, including background checks and drug screening. Hold an active engineering registration or licensure to support engineer of record (EOR) requirements for BV projects. Candidate must be a U.S. citizen.
Certifications Holds an active engineering registration or licensure to support engineer of record (EOR) requirements for BV projects in applicable countries.
Work Environment and Schedule
Typical office environment; prolonged sitting and computer use; attention to detail required.
Physical tasks during site visits, including crouching, grasping, and standing/walking for extended periods.
Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment based on manager discretion.
Salary Plan Regulated as a Registered Engineering position. Salary details will be provided during the interview process.
