Automation Controls Engineer - Mentor, Ohio - JOB 25-01635
Salary Range:
$90k - $115k
Permanent Position with Benefits.
Mentor, Ohio area company is seeking to hire an experienced Automation Controls Engineer to lead projects from design concept through programming and integration.
Qualifications and Responsibilities
BSEE (Bachelor of Science Electrical Engineering)
Strong project management and customer communication skills
Knowledge of VFDs and drive systems (PowerFlex, SINAMICS, ABB)
Understanding of industrial networks and protocols (EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, DeviceNet)
Design, develop and troubleshoot PLC and HMI logic motion control systems and safety circuits using platforms such as Rockwell/Allen-Bradley (RSLogix 500/5000, Studio 5000) and Siemens
Multi‑axis motion control and servo systems experience to program and integrate industrial robots (Fanuc, Motoman/Yaskawa, & ABB)
Integrate machine vision systems (Cognex, Keyence, etc.) for detection and quality control
Define control system architecture: I/O, BOMs, network topologies, and safety systems
Oversee panel build inspections, installation, and on‑site startup
Provide troubleshooting support and perform system upgrades as needed
Assist in estimating and quoting for electrical and controls scopes of work
Proficient in Rockwell and Siemens (TIA Portal, S7)
Familiarity with vision systems like Cognex or Keyence
Some travel for site support and commissioning
Pass criminal background check and 10‑panel drug screen
