We have a great opportunity for you to join our team as an on-call, journey-level tradesperson within our Maintenance and Operations Division (MOD) at our Yakima Valley School campus.

As a member of our Maintenance and Operations team you will assist the maintenance shop in performing HVAC, plumbing, painting, carpentry, grounds maintenance, and repairs.

We are seeking a Maintenance Mechanic for this on-call opportunity to join our team.

Who should apply?

Those with a high school diploma/GED

A valid driver's license

At least Four years of experience in building and equipment maintenance, construction, or repair work; or completion of a recognized apprenticeship in a skilled mechanical trade

Some of what you'll do:

Preventative maintenance and repairs on all types of mechanical equipment such as laundry and kitchen equipment; and air conditioning equipment

Maintenance, operation, and repair of electrical, mechanical, and structural systems of buildings and utility distribution

Monitor safety, fire protection, and environmental control equipment to ensure the building systems and equipment are operating in a satisfactory condition

Respond to service requests and secure necessary assistance

Take preventative and emergency action to control malfunctions

Operate hand tools, power tools, and other shop equipment

Work from plans, sketches, or drawings

Estimate materials for completion of the job

What we are looking for:

Must be able to perform the essential functions described in this announcement successfully

Must be able to communicate with professional conduct and comprehend, through oral and written forms of communication, with management, peers, clients, and the public

Dress appropriately for the work to be performed including wearing Personal Protective Equipment when necessary.

Knowledge of standard practices, methods, materials, tools, and equipment of mechanical trades, safety precautions, record keeping, and basic computer skills
