Role description Arcadis is seeking an experienced Senior Water Engineer to join our Resilience Water Team in White Plains, New York. As a Senior Water Engineer, you will leverage your expertise and technical knowledge to lead the planning, design, and delivery of water and wastewater projects. In addition to managing projects, you will play a key role in developing client relationships, mentoring junior staff, and growing our water / wastewater practice in the New York City area and throughout New York.
Role accountabilities
Manage projects and clients through the planning, design, and construction of water / wastewater conveyance systems, pump / lift stations, stormwater systems, and / or treatment plants.
Create contract documents, drawings, and specifications for construction; oversee construction activities for new builds and rehabilitation projects; ensure successful project execution.
Prepare comprehensive design packages for the engineering, procurement, and construction of water, wastewater, and stormwater projects from inception to completion; coordinate project execution across multiple disciplines.
Lead growth of client relationships by understanding needs, providing innovative solutions, and overseeing winning proposals and impactful presentations.
Direct client engagements to assess requirements and deliver tailored solutions; supervise and mentor junior engineers and technical staff.
Conduct condition assessments for water, wastewater, and storm system assets (pipelines, pump stations) with advanced approaches and technologies.
Develop and manage cost estimates and project schedules; ensure designs are completed within budget and on time; maintain compliance with Arcadis practices, quality standards, and safety protocols.
Travel as needed for client meetings, site visits, and related activities to ensure effective project delivery.
Qualifications & Experience Required Qualifications
Minimum of 8 years of experience in water / wastewater engineering.
Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
Professional Engineer (PE) license in New York State.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
10 or more years of relevant experience.
Experience serving as the engineer of record for water transmission / distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, and pump station designs in the New York area.
Established client relationships within the White Plains / New York market and a demonstrated history of securing and delivering water and wastewater projects.
Expertise in alternative delivery projects.
Active engagement in regional or national professional associations.

We offer nine paid holidays and 20 days of PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $118,000 – $201,000. Actual salaries vary based on experience, education, budget, internal equity, project, and location.
