Cat Scan Technician (CT Technologist) – Part‑Time – Evening shift – Somerville, NJ – RWJ Somerset – Cat Scan Department – Pay Range: $46.30 - $55.37 per hour – Req #: 0000174770

Job Overview RWJ Barnabas Health is looking to add a qualified part‑time CT Technologist in Somerville, NJ. The CAT Scan Technologist will perform a variety of CAT Scan procedures, prioritizing patient care and delivering high‑quality imaging.

Qualifications

Three years of hospital technologist experience preferred, with ability to work with minimal supervision.

Certifications and Licenses Required

State of New Jersey License and ARRT.

CT certification obtained within 12–24 months of hire.

CPR certified or willing to obtain within six months of hire.

Scheduling Requirements

Evening shift, 24 hours per week.

Part‑Time schedule.

Essential Functions

Position patient to obtain study as prescribed by standard operating procedures.

Able to position all anatomical parts as indicated by the Standard Operating Procedures.

Performs the preparation to ensure the prompt commencement of the procedure.

Ensures all necessary equipment is at hand prior to starting the ordered examination.

Under the direction of a Radiologist, instructs and administers cleansing preps and contrast agents.

Protects patients and other personnel by administering proper radiation protection techniques.

Protects reproductive organs with appropriate apparel when visualization of these areas is not required.

Transfers and properly positions patients for examinations to obtain desired radiographic results according to physician specifications.

Assists physicians in performance of examinations.

Performs IV contrast media administration, including venipuncture, under the direction of the medical chairman.

Practices sterile techniques and prevents cross contamination; secures and returns supplies; maintains room stock.

Responsible for necessary equipment maintenance recommendations and troubleshooting when indicated; keeps preventive maintenance logs.

Makes sure all necessary supplies are in the room and restocks accordingly.

Responsible for patient scheduling and smooth flow of schedule including contrast administration.

Responsible for quality control of CAT scan examinations.

Computer System and Clerical Duties

Able to enter studies in RIS and HIS, and track cases.

Able to split and fix studies in PACS as necessary.

Performs a variety of related clerical tasks as necessary.

Cooperates with all hospital personnel in a positive and professional manner, maintaining ethical relationships; maintains a positive and loyal attitude toward employer.

Rotates shifts covering weekends and on‑call.

Attends in‑service training as required by the department.

Able to attend the majority of educational in‑services.

Explains procedures to the patient and answers any questions prior to the commencement of procedures.

Completes all necessary paperwork/documentation prior to submission for interpretation.

Assists in the instruction of student technologists; demonstrates technical art to the students.

Able to evaluate student performance and fill out observation forms.
