The licensed pharmacy technician may work in hospital, retail, and ambulatory infusion settings, and may specialize in areas such as inventory, automation, IV room sterile processing, IV chemotherapy, and medication reconciliation. Duties are assigned based on the technician’s role and supervisor direction, with floating and cross-coverage across multiple practice settings. General Pharmacy Technician Duties: perform within all State Board of Pharmacy, DEA, and FDA rules; prepare prescription orders (sterile and non-sterile, including hazardous/non-hazardous); unit dose preparation; manage automated dispensing machines (ADM) such as Lynx and Pyxis; maintain documentation; dispense medications; manage purchasing and inventory; monitor expirations; maintain a clean workspace; and log temperature controls. Specific Skill Level Duties (in addition to general duties): IV Room Pharmacy Tech (sterile/non-sterile compounding, including chemotherapy and IV admixtures); Inventory Specialist Tech (purchasing, vendor relations, inventory control, recalls, formulary management); Automation Tech (oversight of automation equipment and related projects); Ambulatory Infusion Clinic Pharmacy Tech (sterile/hazardous preparations, dosing collaborations with clinicians); Retail/Specialty Pharmacy Tech; Medication Reconciliation Technician (accurate medication history in EMR, patient interactions). Performs other duties as assigned. Education
Completion of a formalized Technician Training Program - Preferred High School Diploma or GED - Required Experience
1 year pharmacy technician experience or completion of a formalized technician training program - Required 3 years of pharmacy technician experience (retail, hospital, infusion clinics, medication reconciliation or wholesaler) - Preferred Licenses and Certifications
Licensed Pharmacy Tech (LPT) current license by AZ State Board of Pharmacy - Required Current Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) by PTCB or ExCPT - Preferred Pharmacy Technician Diploma - Preferred Seniority level
