Position Details The Landscape Worker performs routine and directed grounds and landscape maintenance of university property. Responsibilities include operating equipment, removing trash, and supporting events. A valid driver’s license is required.

Duties

Perform regular and directed grounds and landscape maintenance by mowing lawns, trimming and edging around trees, shrubs, and buildings, weeding, thinning, and cleaning flower beds.

Water lawns, shrubs, and ornamental gardens as needed.

Leaf removal, mulching, and spreading topsoil.

Plant and maintain seasonal plants, flowers, grass, shrubs, and trees.

Apply lime, fertilizer, and other amendments as instructed by Supervisor.

Prune shrubs and trees to shape and improve growth or remove damaged limbs.

Remove trash and debris from public areas and empty outside trash receptacles.

Sweep and clean main entrances to buildings, sidewalks, plazas, and streets with broom, blower, or mechanical means.

Operate various types of equipment and hand and power tools, including backhoe, dump truck, pickup truck, fork truck, tractor, ATV, UTV, salt spreader, and more.

Install and secure landscape block, clean out ditches and troughs, and perform construction tasks with asphalt, concrete, blacktop, or brick as required.

Perform minor repairs and maintenance on equipment used for grounds keeping.

Respond to storm clean‑up or other emergencies, natural or man‑made.

Work weekend overtime for athletic events, student activities, and emergency call‑outs.

Perform event work (loading, transportation, unloading, and set‑up) for campus wide events, using vehicles or hand tools.

Remove snow and ice from sidewalks, walkways, and building entrances using mechanical, manual, or chemical means.

Qualifications Must be able to perform all essential job duties as outlined in the job description.

Education: High School Diploma or GED.

Experience: No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or GED.

Experience: 2 years of landscaping experience.
