Metrologist Summary: The Metrologist will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, precision, and reliability of measurement systems across precision machining, titanium hot forming, and complex assembly processes. You'll collaborate with engineering teams to support quality control, compliance with industry standards, and continuous innovation.

Responsibilities

Calibrate and validate measurement instruments and coordinate measurement systems, including CMMs, micrometers, gauges, and laser scanning equipment.

Conduct routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and verification of metrology equipment to uphold precision standards.

Analyze and interpret measurement data to confirm that components ranging from ultra‑tight tolerance machined parts to formed alloy structures meet critical specifications.

Develop, refine, and document measurement procedures, protocols, and calibration routines.

Support engineering and manufacturing teams with technical measurement guidance during design for manufacturing, tool design, and process optimization stages.

Ensure compliance with national/international standards (e.g., ISO/IEC 17025, AS9100), assisting in audits when applicable.

Generate clear calibration and measurement reports; document findings and discrepancies.

Train production, QA, and assembly staff on proper measurement techniques and protocols.

Participate in continuous improvement projects to enhance metrology capabilities and reduce measurement uncertainty.

Knowledge

Principles of dimensional metrology, calibration methods, and measurement uncertainty.

Operation of measurement systems such as CMMs, vision systems, laser scanners, surface/contour measurement devices, and precision hand tools.

Quality standards and regulations relevant to aerospace manufacturing (AS9100, ISO/IEC 17025, GD&T).

CNC machining and hot‑forming processes, and how metrology integrates into those workflows.

Statistical process control (SPC), data analysis, and root‑cause investigation techniques.

Software applications for data collection, reporting, and analysis in metrology environments.

Competencies

Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills for troubleshooting measurement issues.

Ability to clearly communicate technical findings to engineering, production, and quality teams.

Experience & Education High school diploma or GED required.
