Overview Hard‑working, hands‑on civil designer needed in Garver’s College Station Water Design Center (WDC) to lead project teams on large‑scale water and wastewater treatment projects. The role involves site layouts, yard piping design, terrain modeling, stormwater calculations, coordination with other disciplines, construction support, and mentoring.
What you’ll do
Develop site civil designs for water and wastewater treatment facilities.
Design complex treatment plant yard piping systems and coordinate with other utilities.
Design site paving, access, and fencing for treatment facilities and ancillary infrastructure.
Design grading and stormwater drainage plans, including pre‑ and post‑terrain modeling.
Prepare calculations for the design of stormwater detention and conveyance.
Coordinate floodplain permits, including determination of base flood elevations.
Oversee the development of Civil 3D drawings.
Coordinate with surveyors and geotechnical sub‑consultants.
Support construction projects.
Assist the Civil Team Leader in managing a design team, coordinating schedules, monitoring budgets, and ensuring delivery of quality work products per Garver standardization.
What you’ll bring
Bachelor’s degree in civil/environmental, biosystems, or agricultural engineering from an ABET‑accredited program.
10 or more years of civil site design experience.
In‑depth knowledge of different piping materials, flow characteristics, and bedding requirements.
Proficiency in designing grading and drainage plans.
Professional Engineer Licensure (PE).
Experience with Autodesk Civil 3D software.
Bonus points if you bring these, too
Master’s degree in civil or environmental engineering.
Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM).
Experience using Bluebeam.
Experience with stormwater conveyance software, including HEC‑RAS/HMS.
Experience working with a diverse disciplinary team: process, structural, building mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and control disciplines.
A record of active participation in local professional organizations.
