Structural Engineer - Bridges to join our Transportation Group at our Raleigh, NC office.

Provide technical design for both small and large‑scale bridge projects, including design and analysis of bridge superstructures and substructures.

Collaborate with a team of engineers to develop preliminary and final plans, specifications, quantities, cost estimates, and coordinate with other disciplines, subconsultants and clients.

Utilize OpenBridge software and maintain quality control standards for accurate and precise measurements, statistical analysis and reporting.

Prepare technical reports and presentations related to current projects.

Work with federal, state, regional, local and privately funded agencies on improvement and development projects.

Remain current in latest structural engineering techniques and practices, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies.

Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering, or a closely related discipline.

3 to 5 years of post‑education experience in engineering discipline with prior structural or civil design experience.

Engineer in Training certification; Registered Professional Engineer in NC is a plus.

Knowledge of structural engineering principles, practices, processes, codes and design/build application to project work.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to express ideas effectively to engineering and non‑engineering audiences.

Self‑leadership, attention to detail, results orientation and ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment.

Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instructions, work independently and comply with company policies.

Moderate proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, technology, math principles, physics and spreadsheets.

Experience with discipline‑specific design software (e.g., MicroStation, OpenBridge, MDX).

Critical thinking and problem‑solving skills to apply technical knowledge and analyze testing results, data and statistical analysis.

Track record of upholding workplace safety and adherence to WSP’s health, safety and harassment policies.

Ability to work schedules that may extend beyond the typical workweek and travel occasionally when required.

Authorized to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Engineering.

Experience with NCDOT Bridge design and familiarity with the latest NCDOT manuals and standards.

Membership or active participation in local professional practice organizations.
