Job Summary The Assistant Controller will be responsible for the integrity of accounting information and compliant business processes; acts to provide financial insight; works with the Finance Lead through reporting and analysis, identifies trends and collaborates with business leaders; provides suggestions in process improvements and margin effectiveness; collaborates on annual budget. The ideal candidate will have worked as a Senior Accountant, or Financial Analyst in a manufacturing environment and be looking to take the next step in their career. The role reports to the Regional Finance Lead.
Job Location This position is hybrid; the individual must live in Atlanta, GA.
Job Responsibilities
Perform month‑end closing activities – accruals, subledger reconciliations, statistical entries, etc.
Involved in the preparation of monthly financial statements, ensuring all statements are appropriately analyzed and correctly stated.
Perform balance sheet account reconciliations.
Prepare for and respond to internal and external audit requests.
Analyze input costs, monitor cost fluctuations, and make recommendations for adjustments.
Plan and support physical inventory audits.
Work closely with manufacturing sites to research variances and proactively address process issues.
Compile/analyze financial data from multiple sources using Excel, Tableau, Infor M3.
Recommend and implement improvements to efficiencies of financial processes within the department and at all operating sites.
Prepare reports to forecast business activity and financial position.
Work with the Finance Lead to ensure adequate SOX and internal controls are in place and maintained to safeguard financial assets.
Provide training and development for staff in finance management, SOX compliance, and any other needs identified in the department.
Other duties as may be assigned by the Finance Lead.
Job Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
4+ years of experience in general accounting/finance areas/cost accounting, including but not limited to budgets, legal compliance, P&L, SFAS Rules in a manufacturing environment.
Demonstrated experience with financial forecasting and financial statement preparation.
Strong analytical skills.
Experience with GAAP, IFRS, cost accounting, inventory management and forecasting.
Computer skills: Accounting Software, Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, BI Tools.
High level of proficiency in PC spreadsheets (MS Excel) and ERP/MRP systems.
