About the Role The Staff Broadcast Engineer builds and maintains cutting‑edge platforms for a premier national broadcaster. This engineering role ensures content is available to viewers through broadcast channel playout, Video On Demand (VOD) and other media services at any time.

Responsibilities
Provides engineering support for all on‑air broadcast systems
Follows standard operating procedures and documentation to support the operations team in a 24/7 environment
Builds and maintains FOX’s broadcast infrastructure
Conducts lab, performance and system tests and prototypes that continually evolve FOX’s architecture and infrastructure
Supports evaluation of solutions portfolio against third‑party offerings
Assists the Media Operations team with day‑to‑day operations and technical issues or concerns
Partners with the Engineering and Standards & Advanced Technology teams to develop groundbreaking technology solutions for challenging business issues
Collaborates with engineering teams, operations teams, and third‑party vendors to develop long‑term strategy, product development and implementation road maps
Uses data to make informed business decisions and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the team’s performance
Analyzes dashboards and continuously optimizes system security and testing, minimizing bugs that reach final products
Prioritizes the use of Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) to motivate the team
Embody a culture of continuous learning, especially in emerging technologies
Is motivated by being part of a high‑performing team and delivering high‑quality products
Enjoys learning from and coaching others
Level & Role Specific Qualification
10+ years hands‑on experience working in a broadcast or television facility
Strong working understanding of SMPTE 2110 suite of standards and NMOS specifications developed by AMWA
Working knowledge of compression techniques such as MPEG2/4, HEVC, JPEG 2000, and JPEG XS
Designs, deploys, and maintains facility intercom solutions
Creates, manages, and shares design documentation, SOPs, workflow diagrams, and training materials using collaborative tools such as Confluence, JIRA, and others
Demonstrates strong analytical, reasoning, and technical troubleshooting skills
Knowledge of major broadcast systems and the vendors that supply them in routing, storage, graphics, transcoding, playout, master control, etc.
Strong knowledge of asset management systems, file‑based workflows, media acquisition, trans‑coding/encoding, and NAS/SAN technologies
Knowledge of various technologies and tools, including AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, IAM), on‑prem virtual machines, containerization, and orchestration tools
Experience with virtual machines and database administration
Strong knowledge of networking protocols and a clear understanding of how routing and switching functions
General Qualifications
Ability to work effectively across different projects and teams
Ability to work various shifts as part of a 24/7 coverage team
Ability to translate business and operation requirements into technical requirements
Nice to Have, But Not a Dealbreaker
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent practical experience in Engineering, IT, Computer Science or related Tech field
Knowledge and experience with emerging technologies such as 4K HDR and HDR10+
Proficient in cloud platforms, with a strong focus on AWS
Strong knowledge of Evertz Magnum, a robust SMPTE ST 2110 broadcast control solution
Experience working with Arista MCS, a key component of Arista’s solution for supporting IP‑based SMPTE ST 2110 standard for media over IP workflows
Experience in designing, deploying, and troubleshooting intercom solutions from Riedel Communications
Familiarity with AI‑based system monitoring and diagnostics for improving performance, reliability, and fault detection
Understanding of AI‑driven workflow automation for optimizing media management, content processing, and broadcast operations

Pay & Benefits Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $39.75–50.49 per hour. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for union‑represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
