Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Revenue Accountant with experience in New Mexico operated and non-operated properties to join the team. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate revenue recognition, compliance with regulatory requirements, and efficient management of revenue processes for both operated and non-operated assets. The ideal candidate has a strong background in oil & gas revenue accounting, with specific expertise in New Mexico state regulations, tax structures, and reporting requirements.
Key Responsibilities :
Revenue Accounting & Reporting :
Accurately record and reconcile revenue from operated and non-operated New Mexico-based properties.
Ensure compliance with New Mexico Oil & Gas Severance Taxes, Royalty Reporting (ONRR / BLM), Gross Receipts Tax (GRT), or property-specific tax structures.
Analyze revenue variances and trends to support financial planning.
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue reports.
Work closely with joint interest partners and operators to verify revenue distributions and allocations.
Regulatory Compliance & Audit Support :
Maintain compliance with state, federal, and industry regulations related to revenue recognition for both operated and non-operated properties.
Support internal and external audits, including state audits of New Mexico revenue streams.
Ensure accurate reporting and reconciliation of joint interest billing (JIB) revenue for non-operated assets.
Stay updated on changes in New Mexico tax laws, royalty structures, and lease agreements.
Revenue Process Optimization :
Identify opportunities to improve revenue accounting processes and systems for both operated and non-operated assets.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including land, operations, and joint venture accounting, to enhance reporting accuracy and efficiency.
Implement automation tools and best practices to streamline revenue workflows.
Qualifications & Experience :
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
5+ years of oil & gas accounting experience, with a focus onnon-operated properties, JIBs, and revenue accounting.
Strong understanding ofjoint interest billing, revenue distributions, and AFE management.
Experience withODA and / or DocViewfor invoice and document processing (preferred).
Proficiency inoil & gas accounting systems (SAP, BOLO, OGSYS, or similar).
AdvancedExcel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, Data Analysis).
Excellentanalytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Strong knowledge of New Mexico tax laws, royalty reporting, joint interest revenue, and industry-specific regulations.
