The Department of Linguistics at the University of Georgia invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Phonetics and Phonology with an anticipated start date of August 1, 2026. The teaching load is four courses per year, including introductory and advanced courses in phonetics and phonology and other courses related to the candidate’s areas of specialization. Additional duties include advising at all levels and service to the department and university. Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Linguistics or in a related discipline in hand at the time of appointment. Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities And/or Competencies
We seek a candidate with a productive research agenda and the ability to be an excellent teacher and mentor at both the undergraduate and graduate level. Special consideration will be given to applicants whose work includes a focus on laboratory phonology, speech technology, and/or corpus and computational methods and whose research program has the potential to attract significant external funding and to establish new collaborations within the department and across disciplines within the university.
