Overview
Responsible for the supervision of laboratory staff and operations for specimen processing department. Ensures accurate handling and processing of specimens and specimen integrity by adhering to laboratory policies and procedures. Principal Accountabilities
1. Supervises the laboratory staff and oversees the phlebotomy and specimen processing activates. 2. Evaluates workflow and suggests methods to improve processes. 3. Investigates/ resolves and responds to internal and external customer complaints/specimen issues in a timely manner. 4. Oversees work schedules to assure staffing is adequate to meet department needs. 5. Monitors employee productivity and provide constructive feedback and coaching. 6. Maintains inventory, orders and adequate supplies. 7. Prepares and administers annual performance appraisals. 8. Assists in formulating goals and objectives for the department. 9. Establishes and implements policies and procedures in collaboration with associated departments throughout the organization. 10. Ensures that all personnel policies and practices are followed. 11. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications
Required: Associates degree in Chemical, Physical, Biological or Clinical Laboratory Science or related field. Required: 3-5 years of Lab operations experience. Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Chemical, Physical, Biological or Clinical Laboratory Science or related field. Preferred: Prior experience in specimen processing and phlebotomy. EEO STATEMENT
