Systems Engineering Manager
to join our growing team. Reporting to the
Director, Platform Engineering , the
Systems Engineering Manager
will manage a dynamic team of systems engineers responsible for the design, analysis, integration, verification, validation, and operations support of spacecraft within Terran Orbital’s portfolio. This role oversees a coherent set of spacecraft products and systems engineering functions that support programs and projects. The Systems Engineering Manager will apply technical and leadership skills to organize, lead, and guide systems engineering execution within their program set, mentor, train, and lead technical system designs and architectures, and manage team efficacy to meet business needs. Requirements Responsibilities
Lead, direct, review, and coach the work of engineering professional direct reports to accomplish program, project, and departmental responsibilities Responsible for team members’ resource planning and forecasting, skillset identification, engineering tool implementation, and product/process standardization for program-level support in systems architecture, design, integration, verification and validation, launch, and operations Lead and establish goals, objectives, and training for the team with direct impact on both short-term and long-term operations results Ensure knowledge capture and knowledge transfer by mentoring engineering members Execute strategies and roadmap items for systems architecture and program-level developments Propose and execute process improvements to maximize efficiency, quality, and technical fidelity of engineering products to support interoperability and flexible, state-of-the-art architectures Maintain outstanding communication with upper management and department employees Contribute to, or oversee staff working on new program proposals, designs, and resource estimates Bolster the team as an individual contributor as needed Lead the Systems Engineering team with responsibilities including: Designing and developing optimal space vehicle architectures and detailed mission solutions for remote sensing, RF, and optical applications Mission Concept of Operations refinement, mapping, and application Requirements generation, derivation, decomposition, and mapping System Definition Baseline configuration management and control Logical and Physical Architecture definitions and interface management System-level design activities including State Machines, Orbital dynamics, and Communication architecture System Integration, Verification, and Validation definition and execution Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or the Physical Sciences 12+ years of spacecraft systems engineering experience 5+ years of experience as a technical leader for space-domain missions 3+ years of experience leading/managing/tracking projects proposals, processes, and employees within a systems engineering discipline Proven track record applying expertise to sophisticated system challenges Experience leading complex initiatives with collaboration across internal and external stakeholders Experience with Risk, Issue, and Opportunity management Understanding of how people, processes, and tools interact with systems and leadership to achieve goals Proven ability to communicate effectively verbally, in writing, and through presentations across all levels including executive leadership Attention to technical details and meeting program delivery schedules Ability to self-govern with minimal supervision, prioritize workload, and manage time effectively U.S. Citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain DoD Security Clearance Additional Differentiators
Experience with space-based reliability, availability, maintainability, and safety Familiarity with satellite system budgets (mass, power, delta-V, link, data) Experience with encrypted communications architectures and data products Demonstrated experience with Optical or RF systems Benefits

$215,000 USD Your actual level and base salary will be determined case-by-case and may vary based on job-related qualifications, knowledge, skills, education, and experience.
